San Antonio’s downtown landscape just got even better! After months of anticipation, Phase II of Civic Park at Hemisfair officially opened on March 6, 2025, marking another milestone in the city's ongoing revitalization.

If you've visited Civic Park recently, you've likely noticed the construction fences blocking parts of the north and east sections. Those barriers are now coming down, unveiling a new and improved public space filled with inviting features designed for community gatherings, events, and relaxation.

What’s New in Civic Park’s Phase II?

While the stunning Monarch Hotel is still under construction and set to open in 2026, here’s what visitors can enjoy right now:

🌿 Source Plaza

• The main entrance at Market Street and South Alamo Street near the Torch of Friendship.
• An amphitheater-style space perfect for outdoor performances, community events, and casual seating.

🌳 The Promenade

• A tree-lined walkway connecting downtown to Southtown.
• Offers plenty of shade and seating areas, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll.

⛲ The Zócalo

• A charming plaza with a fountain at its center.
• Bistro-style seating for visitors to relax, chat, and enjoy the atmosphere.

🎶 The Stage (Coming Soon!)

• A designated concert and event space located on the north side of the Great Lawn.
• Will serve as a prime entertainment hub for live music, performances, and large-scale events.

To mark the completion of Phase II, Hemisfair is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. City officials, Hemisfair leaders, and the community will come together to celebrate this exciting milestone—and you’re invited!
