1. PTDY Is Now Flexible Instead of Rigid

Previously, Permissive Temporary Duty had strict rules:

• Had to be taken all at once
• Could only be used before OR after your move
• Ended once housing was secured

Now, Airmen can:

• Use up to 10 days of PTDY incrementally
• Spread those days out before, during, and after a PCS
• Use PTDY specifically for:
• House hunting
• Packing and unpacking
• Getting settled

• Come out early to explore neighborhoods
• Return later for inspections or closing
• Use time after arrival to fully settle in

Before:

• Capped at 30 days

• The policy is retroactive for qualifying events
• Must be used by August 7, 2026
